A Sad Ending

So my another year of fantasy football is done and another year of getting 2nd. I suppose I should be happy, but I really wanted to be the champion of my husband's family. Most of them are huge sports nuts and only live by ESPN. This is who I lost too...

I know, you're all feeling sorry for me after seeing this photo, but the worst is his love for the Steelers. How can you lose to someone with a love for a team like that? There is always next year and I have learned a few things.

1. Never pick up T.O. again. (Since women read this and probably don't follow much football, I'm referring to Terrell Owens. I really didn't follow much football until two years ago. I'll admit I enjoy my husband much more now that I'm sharing an interest with him and not feeling like he is neglecting me.)

T.O. is the biggest baby known to football. He is not a team player, he is very inconsistent with his fantasy points, and it is really hard cheering for the team he plays for just so he can get you those valuable points you need.

2. Never listen to your husband (or your husband's family) when it comes to picking up a player off the wires. I have been burned so many times by this that I think I will just keep my mouth shut from now on.

3. You don't need to watch ESPN to play a fantasy league. It can be helpful at draft time, but all those predictions they make are all educated guesses and they are usually wrong anyways.

4. If you going to do those extra curricular football games (ie: pick 'em), it's ok to pick your favorite team even if they are going to lose no matter what. However, if you want to win your division, you need to put away your biases and pick with a brain, not your heart.

5. Try to have fun. I yell things at the T.V., I yell at the players when they don't score, I got a blackberry partly to keep track of my points at church (I know, but with all those screaming kids in the overflow, you can't really hear the speakers anyways), but in the end fantasy football is just a 4 month period of entertainment. So why do I hold grudges against family, the steelers, the jets, and the redskins? Chalk it up to anything else that's competitive.

Go Niners! I know there is going to be a more promising season next year!

Wow, I am impressed. I try to avoid any and all things involving football, but I'm sure Ivan would love it if I ever showed interest. And isn't second place pretty good?

Kami, Yes! I am the champ! And I'm glad to see you finally put someone good looking on your blog.(male anyway)You gave it a great run but, with a litte more ESPN and a little less Elli and Aaron I'm sure you'll get second place again next year. we noticed the lions sticker on the back of your 4runner! Are you changing teams?
