This is the original key to Liberty Jail. The reorganized church, Church of Christ, has the original door.
Here is the remodel of the Liberty Jail at the Liberty visitor's center
The temple of the Church of Christ which is on the land where we will eventually gather and have a temple. We did a tour through this temple. Very pretty and different. They did have the original paintings of Emma and Joseph that we all know of when we see their pictures portrayed.
Izzy and Deacon being pioneer children at the Independence visitor's center
The day after Independence, we traveled to Nauvoo....about a 4.5 hour drive from where T.J. and Amelia live.
This was one of the "areas" we could visit in Nauvoo. Izzy was needing some kid time, so we let her play all the games that pioneer kids played. The only downside was it was raining and cold while doing this.
The Nauvoo Temple, which I think rivals the Palmyra temple (since I've been to very few out of state temples :) ). We were able to do a session and then went back the next morning to take pictures in front of the temple.
These pictures were of Carthage Jail. A very spiritual experience even though Elliot had to hangout with a very loud Deacon. The window pictured is the one Joseph fell out of and the door is the original door with two bullet holes still in it.
After Carthage, we drove onto St. Louis. This is a really cool city and we only saw two days worth!
This event was the reason for the Missouri trip other than seeing T.J. and Amelia of course! Thanks T.J. and Amelia for living in a state with two pro football teams. Too bad that Elliot's team lost to a team who hadn't won in like 28 games!!
This was a free children's museum that was about triple the size of Clark Planetarium. Very interactive and I was actually sad to leave early to get to the game. Izzy really enjoyed this part.
Aren't Deacon and Isaac so cute?!
Here is the famous St. Louis arch. The ride to the top was a little claustrophobic and scary, but worth the view. You could see the city on the one side and the Mississippi river on the other side. We watched a movie on how the arch was built which was well worth it. And the arch had a really neat museum inside it as well. We were about 5 minutes walking distance from our hotel to the arch.
This was our last day and we headed back out to Kansas City to see a Royals game. They stink, but they won that night!
Izzy's best friends: Peter and new comer Buddy
Izzy training to be an airline pilot. Southwest was so nice!
Thanks, T.J. and Amelia for a fantastic time. You guys were great hosts and tour guides!
